The Apprentice - Michael Sophocles Fired From The Apprentice

Telesales executive Michael Sophocles has become the latest contestant to be fired from The Apprentice.

The 24-year-old was given his marching orders by Sir Alan Sugar after his Renaissance team were comprehensively beaten in a supercar rental task.

Lee McQueen's Team Alpha made more than £11,000 through renting cars to London businessman thanks to their high-risk decision to offer a Pagani Zonda, which could be rented for a daily charge of £2,700.

And though Sophocles could have been expected to attract customers with his Ferrari - which had the cheapest rental cost of any car in the task - his lack of direction and naivety about cars saw him failing to make a single sale.

Despite the successful sales of Claire Young and Helene Speight, the Renaissance team made only £2,114 and were summoned to the boardoom to face Sir Alan and his aides Nick Hewer and Margaret Mountford.

It seemed as if Sophocles was destined to cling onto his place on the BBC1 reality show after the Amstrad boss spent the majority of his boardroom summing up attacking global pricing executive Speight, who he accused of hanging onto the coat tails of fellow contestants.

But though Speight's fate had seemed sealed when Sir Alan said he had seen "glimmers of brilliance" from Sophocles but struggled to see how Speight would fit into his organisation, Sir Alan chose to send Michael on his way.

"It's a tough one but Michael, this time, I have to say to you, you're fired," he explained.

In his exit interview with the BBC, Sophocles said he thought his time to be fired had come three weeks previously.

"I was almost like a dead man walking," he continued.

"I'd run my course and the five people who are in the final five deserve to be there."

When questioned about the "glimmers of brilliance" to which Sir Alan had made reference, Sophocles retorted: "I had glimmers of... watchability. The five people who are left, they may have the best business skills, but compared to me they are boring.

"Raef [Bjayou] and I were the most entertaining," he added.

Actress Angelina Jolie has confirmed, during a television interview, that she is expecting twins.
The 32-year-old star made the revelation during an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival.
Jolie was being interviewed for 'Access Hollywood', alongside comedy star Jack Black, when he said to her: "You're gonna have as many as [the] Brady Bunch when you have these."
When asked by the interviewer if she is expecting twins, Jolie said: "Yeah, yeah, we've confirmed that already. Well, Jack's just confirmed it actually."
Jolie and her partner Brad Pitt are already parents to four children; 6-year-old Maddox, 4-year-old Pax, 3-year-old Zahara and 22-month-old Shiloh.

Potter star talks about new romance

'Harry Potter' star Emma Watson has spoken about her new boyfriend, after being photographed with him at the Empire Awards after-party.
According to the Mirror, the 17-year-old actress said: "I'm really happy. I'm not sure if he is 'the one' just yet, we've only been going out together for three weeks, but it's brilliant at the moment. He is a friend of a friend."
"We've known each other for a while but we only got together last month. He isn't an actor and he didn't go to my school, which is great, we're just having fun," she said.
Watson laughed off previous media rumours which linked her to Razorlight frontman Johnny Borrell and her 'Harry Potter' co-star Daniel Radcliffe.
"I've been linked to so many guys I sound like a wanton woman."
"Daniel and I have been mates for the past six years, so we're used to it. Then there was Johnny Borrell. But this is my boyfriend now," she said, referring to the new man in her life.

Katie Holmes - Katie Holmes Set For Broadway Stage Debut

Katie Holmes is to make her Broadway debut in a production of an Arthur Miller play, it has been confirmed.

It was reported in March that Holmes was in negotiations to take a role in a revival of Miller's World War II drama All My Sons and according to show producer Eric Falkenstein, the actress has now been confirmed to take to the stage this autumn.

The Dawson's Creek star will act alongside John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest and Patrick Wilson for the production, for which opening dates will be announced shortly, Playbill.com reports.

All My Sons, Arthur Miller's first Broadway hit in 1947, tells of businessman Joe Keller (Lithgow) whose supply of defective parts to the military resulted in the deaths of 21 pilots during the war but who escaped jail after he pinned the blame on his business partner Steven Deever.

Wiest is to play family matriarch Kate Keller with Wilson as their idealistic son Chris, whose faith in his father is shattered when he learns the truth of Joe's complicity in the sale of the damaged airplane parts.

And Holmes, who has not appeared in a play since high school, is to play Ann Deever, the fiancee of Chris as well as being the daughter of Joe's imprisoned colleague.

Speaking earlier this month, Falkenstein said that Holmes was "very well suited" for the role.

"There is an additional layer of soul to Ann and from the work I've seen of Katie, she has always impressed with multi-faceted characters. She would nail it," he told OK! magazine.

The producer moved to deny suggestions that Holmes' celebrity - enhanced since her marriage to Tom Cruise - would detract from the play.

"The fact remains that she has a tremendous record of performances. I think Katie is a tremendous actor. Whenever she decides to come to the stage she'll be terrific."

"Well everyone wants a piece of mePeople have asked me [to write songs] but no one famous," explained McCabe of the fall out as the band kicked off their set with 'Valerie'. "I think they see it as Amy Winehouses songI dont mind."

Playing to a small crowd of fans the band also performed current single 'Always Right Behind You' and hinted that the next single could be a track called 'Put A Little Aside'.

The short set went smoothly until the final track, album song 'Dirty Rat', when McCabe asked if they could restart halfway through.

At the end he explained that he became a bit overwhelmed saying: "It got too intense for me you know."

When asked what the track was about he added: "It's a bit deep and horrible, like."

Melancholy instrumental trio Dirty Three formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1992, lED by classically-trained fiddler Warren Ellis, wHO began writing and playing medicine for art openings and plays and also tenured in the groups Blackeyed Susans, Paranoid and the Nursing Mothers.
